About Michele Silva
Photographer of People, Places and Purpose
Michele is a South African-born, Scotland-based photographer whose work spans portraiture, travel, and creative brand storytelling. Known for her atmospheric aesthetic and emotionally resonant images, she documents people and places with a sensitivity shaped by her multicultural roots and a lifelong engagement with the arts. Raised in Johannesburg within a richly diverse cultural backdrop, she first expressed her creativity through dance, representing South Africa on international stages in Freestyle and Latin American categories.
Alongside her competitive dance career, Michele studied fashion design at the London International School of Fashion (LISOF), laying the foundations for her visual sensibility and attention to form. In the years following her move to the UK, she worked with global brands. Her time in corporate settings offered structure and strategic insight — but it was in creative entrepreneurship and photography that she found her truest expression.
Today, Michele works independently, photographing editorial features, brand campaigns, interiors, and individuals. Her images are often described as quiet, grounded, and textured — shaped by an instinctive understanding of atmosphere and narrative. Whether working with designers, artists, architects, or everyday people, her lens is focused on truth, intimacy, and intention.
Michele is currently developing her first print publication and launching The Corner House — a small intimate creative space celebrating creative co -working and pop up creative events solely dedicated to creativity, cultural connection, and independent voices. With a practice rooted in visual journalism and human connection, Michele's work is an ongoing exploration of identity, belonging, and the power of place.
